Concrete floor heating

Installation

The heating layout is individually tailored to suit the customer’s plan and divided into separate zones. The cable is then fastened down just prior to the pouring of concrete.

Separate cold tail terminations are provided for later connection at the perimeter of each zone.

These installations are normally connected to a controlled electricity tariff that provides 18 hrs input per day at a reduced rate (about  two thirds). An insulated home on a concrete floor has excellent thermal stability and the loss of input time is not a problem.

If using the system for background warmth, the night-only tariff at half the normal electricity charge rate can also be used.

Can it get damaged?

The incidence of damage is very low. However, it is comforting to know that as a specialist installer, we are equipped to pinpoint damage and repair it.

Hydronic floor heating

Circulated warm water can be used instead of  electric heating cables. This would only be viable for large installations due to the higher capital cost. The floor will also need to be thickened by 25mm (if not already at least 125mm in thickness), and a layer of light gauge mesh will need to be provided on or close to the bottom, for attachment of the pipework prior to the top steel installation.

Heatec can provide full installation in QLD and Northern NSW.

Also, kits of materials and instructions for either the electric or hydronic systems.

The electric kits are available on-line through our shopping basket.
